St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School community will provide challenges for the growth of the whole person. Within a framework of Catholic values, we will strive to live in harmony with each other and our environment by living our motto "Love One Another."
   


St Simon Peter School has the following goals:

BECAUSE WE AS A COMMUNITY VALUE THE GOSPEL MESSAGE WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO

· assist members of the school community in acquiring a deeper knowledge and love of God

through raising their awareness of God’s plan of salvation in their lives
by helping them to respond in freedom to the Gospel message and
by providing faith experiences though Eucharistic worship, prayer, Sacraments and service to others

· foster religious values and their expression in daily life.

· encourage a love for Mary, the Mother of God and a recognition of her role in the life of the Church.

· teach the children daily, through Religious Education lessons, more about the Catholic Church’s teachings and traditions.

BECAUSE WE VALUE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO

· offer a comprehensive and relevant range of learning experiences based upon curriculum guidelines from the WA Ministry of Education.

· integrate faith and life in the different fields of human knowledge and the practice of Christian values

· foster effective communication skills.

· cultivate a positive attitude to learning and independent study skills

· encourage creativity and an appreciation of music and the arts

· create a thirst for knowledge

· design programs for the less gifted and more able students based on individual needs

· develop skills of independent thinking.

BECAUSE WE VALUE THE CONTRIBUTION OF EACH OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS
THEY ARE ENCOURAGED TO ENHANCE THEIR CONTRIBUTION BY

· developing a happy, welcoming atmosphere, marked by a spirit of harmony, with care and concern for each other and for the students and families

· setting an example for the students by giving personal witness in their own Christian living.

· supporting parents in their role as the prime educators of the children and complement and extend this education

· showing a high degree of dedication and responsibility, as well as professional competence in their position

· appreciating each other’s individual gifts and talents and sharing these with the school community

· supporting activities of the school and where possible, encouraging others to be involved.

· provide time and support for the staff to revitalise their energies through opportunities for further education, inservice training and social interaction

· create within the school a family atmosphere between children, parents and staff and foster communication so that we work towards the same goal.

· encourage an attitude of respect for each other in the school.

· staff support and complement parents in their responsibility as educators of their children.

· develop a loving relationship between all members of the school community through example and encouragement.

· promote tolerance for all regardless of individual or cultural differences.

· maintain communication with parents and encourage their involvement in the school’s activities.

· offer each child many opportunities to develop spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually

· assist all individuals to value a life long quest for learning and truth

· develop in each child a positive self-image with a sense of their uniqueness

· encourage in all individuals positive behaviours for living and relating honestly with others

· encourage all individuals to recognise that some values such as respect and tolerance are absolute
